Help NorthStar Auto Sales Get Back To Business

Unfortunately, our business, Northstar Auto Sales (Est. 1995), was completely destroyed in an electrical fire yesterday. It was a total loss. Big surprise that our insurance company is saying we are not covered for $1 in compensation. We lost everything. 30 years in this business & this will be our third time starting from scratch. My mother and I are not ones to ask for help, but this time we would really appreciate any type of donation. At this point, anything is a blessing. Rough way to start 2025. Just wanna say thank you for all the love and support from the community, friends, and family ❤️ Much love

Help Michele's Fight Against Stage 4 Cancer

We are reaching out to friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers in the hope that we can come together to support Michele's fight against cancer! The end of 2024 came with shocking and devastating news as we found out that Michele has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of unknown origin which has now spread due to delay of treatment. Since August 2024 she's been to countless doctors and hospitals, going through extensive tests and procedures to rule out primary cancers. Doctors are unable to find where her cancer originated from so they are currently treating her cancer as a stage 4 ovarian cancer with lung, lymph and bone metastases. Michele had an ovarian tumor removed back in 2010, in which the tumor was intentionally ruptured and removed leaving her with cells still in her body (this was the decision of the MD at the time saying that she is young and chances of it being cancerous was non-existent). Biopsy results showed malignant cells so she had abdominal scans done every 6 months for the past 14 years but wasn't aware it had the potential to spread to her lungs (very rare for the type of tumor she had). Oncologists have told us that there is nothing they can do because they have never seen a case like this, not knowing how to treat her, but advocated for herself and she has finally found an oncologist that is willing to treat her. But due to the delay in treatment, her cancer has now spread to her lymph nodes and bones and she's unable to go a day without being on strong pain killers. The next steps for Michele include surgical intervention (done Dec 2024 - with the intention of surgically removing the tumors but when opened, she had countless tumors that didn't show on CT/PET scans so they had to close her up) and aggressive chemotherapy treatments for the next 5 months, all of which will come with mounting medical costs. She is also on a leave of absence from work due to the strain the treatments have on her body which leave her bed ridden for days post chemo. While we are doing everything we can to stay positive and keep her spirits strong, the financial strain of medical bills, hospital stays, traveling to receive care, putting her job on hold, taking care of our two toddler boys and the need for time away from work to focus on recovery inevitably becomes overwhelming. Of course, Michele and I never imagined having to be in a position where we would need to ask for help, but we know sometimes it's okay to lean on others when life takes an unexpected turn. Your generous contributions will help cover the direct costs of her treatment. We are hoping to keep Michele focused on healing and staying strong without any worry of how to make ends meet. Michele is deeply humbled by the support she has already received from friends and family, and it means the world to us to know that so many people are sending their love, prayers, and positive thoughts. If you are able to contribute, whether big or small, it will make a world of difference. If you are unable to donate at this time, simply sharing this page and keeping Michele and our family in your thoughts is appreciated more than words can express. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being part of this journey. We know that Michele can face this challenge head-on, and together, we will get her through this! We will continue to update this page with any new updates.

Support Sugar Hill Salon's 2025 Season

Hi Everyone, My name is Alexander Davis and I am the Founder and Artistic Director of Sugar Hill Salon Chamber Music; based in Harlem on the traditional territory of the Lenapehoking. It is astounding that we are now 5 years into existing as a series, and it truly could not have been possible without all of your support and donations over these past years. This last season was truly monumental for us as it brought so many incredible opportunities to our collective. We performed 12 concerts in total with 7 of those being from our very own series at Lucille’s Harlem and Jackie Robinson Park. We made our debut at both The Met Museum and The Met Cloisters which brought our audience reach to over 5000+ people. We were featured on WQXR twice for their radio segment on quartets and their live Pride Show hosted by Thorgy Thor. And we hit our five year goal of reaching a $20,000 reserve to pay our artist more and be considered for larger grants. Looking ahead, Sugar Hill Salon will continue to host monthly concerts from January - July at Lucille’s Harlem and Jackie Robinson Park Bandshell. We are extremely excited to premier our first large chamber work, Praise Song for the Flying Africans in June by Sugar Hill Salon’s own composer and classical Sopranist, Jay Saint Flono. We have been dreaming hard to bring this work to life since premiering a reduced chamber version back in 2023 and can officially say City Lyric Opera has selected us to help bring this work to life for their 2024/2025 season! Stay tuned to hear more about it! Again, all of this was only possible because of your donations over the years. If we weren’t able to build our reserve this large, we would not be able to take on projects like this. I hope you will donate again or for the first time and share our 2025 GoFundMe to help us continue to grow. With all my love, thank you and I hope to see you at our season opening concert on Monday, January 24th, at 7 PM!

Filmhouse – Open the Doors!

The Crowdfunder has been a huge success and has enabled Filmhouse to look forward to welcoming you back, sometime in the autumn. It is clear from the constant flow of donations that people want to support the future of Filmhouse, so we have decided to let the Crowdfunder run on beyond the April 30th deadline we'd been working to. It is a really good mechanism for enabling donations to be made, so it makes sense to keep it open until such time as we have a new website set up where people can support Filmhouse through donations in the future (or book tickets!). If you are here with a view to support us, please do. Any additional funds we can raise here will make a real difference to the project as we need to make sure we have enough funds to cover all the costs to be incurred as we ramp up the new, wider Filmhouse organisation. It would be great to hit the £350K target. Do tell your friends, family and colleagues – who may have been meaning to donate – to pop on here and give what they can. If you are a UK taxpayer, you can increase the value of your donation by 25% by adding Gift Aid. If you are considering a donation over £5000, we'd welcome a conversation with you. Contact us on fundraising@filmhouse.org.uk For more information (including FAQs) and to join our mailing list, please visit filmhouse.org.uk. We'll send news and updates via our mailing list and also via Crowdfunder to anyone who donates – remember to stay 'opted in' for updates! Thank you!
